Welcome to Woadies South East Seafood!

Woadie's South East Seafood resembles what being an Alaskan is all about: Being outside, eating fresh seafood, and being around great people.
Here at Woadie's, we serve a variety of locally caught fish, crab, and shrimp; we fly in fresh oysters from Kake, Alaska, and did I mention the King Crab from the Bering Sea!! This stuff is truly delicious. Wild Alaskan Catch was purchased by Kyle Rush in 2017, a 25-year-old US Navy veteran attending business school at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. Kyle grew up in the small neighboring city of Haines, Alaska, with his mother, Tammie Rush, and two older sisters, Jennifer and Kimberly Chambers.
The word Woadie is an old slang term meaning great, trustworthy friend; it was introduced by close friend Nick Walker, who was stationed with Kyle overseas. Woadie became a word that would in many ways define a large group of friends who became much more like family through the years.
Kyle felt it was important to instill this idea of comradery, comfort and friendship in his business. "The purchase of this business wouldn't have been possible without the amazing support from my close friend Orion, mother, father, and many others. That kind of support and unity is what I hope to represent my company"

"What Our Customers are Saying..."

"While on a train tour of the Alaskan countryside, I was given the recommendation to try Woadie’s South East Seafood. After finishing the tour and going into town, we arrived at Woadie’s which was on the outskirts of the main downtown area. The restaurant is one where you walk up and order food and choose your seating which is a great casual setting.
We ordered the Salmon Poke bowl and the Halibut Sandwich. The halibut was so tender, fresh, and loaded with crispy halibut. The fries were also phenomenal with some added vinegar! The Salmon Poke bowl was topped with fresh salmon, pickled cucumbers, avocado and cabbage. One of my favorite poke bowls that I have had!"

"Woadies was recommended by the shuttle driver who transported us from the ship in Skagway to the downtown area. It is in the downtown area off of the main street. We arrived very early and was happy that we did. The line formed quickly. You place your oder at the window and then seat yourself. The area is an enclosed outdoor seating with outdoor heaters. Very, very clean (including the restroom), friendly workers and great customer service. Once your order is ready, they call your name for pickup. We ordered the halibut w chips and the dungeons crab. Both items were fantastic. The seafood was fresh, the crab was a great size and had great flavor. I tried the local root beer, but thought it was a little sweet. This is certainly a great spot if you want to take a break from cruise food."

"Food? Yeah, the best and most innovative in town. We love people's people. They've built this from the ground up. Service? It's like hanging with bros. Vibe? Excellence."

"This place is a vibe! A block or so off the main strip from where all of the cruise tourists flock so it’s both chill and moderately priced. Staff was super friendly and the food was top notch. My family and I had our favorite lunch of the trip there! Would definitely recommend! Still thinking about the crab legs."

"This was by far the best poke I’ve had. The salmon was flavorful, and the vegetables were very fresh and crisp. The Dungeness crab was excellent, and the King crab stood out as exceptional.
The owner, Kyle, was helpful and patient during the ordering process. He also checked in with customers to make sure everything was satisfactory and answered questions about the food and the restaurant’s background, which was a nice touch.
Considering the quality, quantity, and location, the pricing was very reasonable. Overall, a great experience that I look forward to repeating during our next trip to Skagway."
